Avengers...... Assembled!!!!

The Avengers!!!!!
Marvel is definitely off to a good start. With AvX trudging along quite nicely with all the promotional variants and tie-ins, Marvel made another big move with the showing of The Avengers movie. I was fortunate enough to have gotten free passes to the advanced screening of The Avengers (big thanks to Jeremy, Justine and the gang from Galaxy!!!) and me and my wife was taken for a great action-packed ride. So for anybody reading this and will still be watching the movie on Friday 04 May, be warned: SPOILER ALERT!!!!!

Lets start with the basics. The Avengers have gone through so many roster changes throughout the years. The movie though gives us some of the core members: Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye. The movie starts off where all the tie-in movies left off, with Loki being the main antagonist. Loki being the douche that he is (as is typical with most baddies), he is obsessed with domination and the glory of war. To achieve this, he was tasked by a being (who will be named later) to acquire the Tesseract, an object with immense cosmic potential and energy. I am assuming that this is the Cosmic Cube (which might make more sense later on). With the onset of the cube being taken by Loki and the world put into dire peril, Nick Fury, played by Samuel L. Jackson, was forced to put into action the Avengers Initiative which brings into play my other favorite super team.

The movie is full of very impressive visual effects, non-stop action and quirks and gags which brings back memories of old comic books I used to read and love. This movie is a must for comic book geeks and fan-boys like me. But with all the small but steady steps that Marvel made to introduce each and every Avenger, even somebody who has not picked up a comic book will definitely enjoy the movie without the sense of being lost. Some things that bugged me though: Loki's alien cohorts looks more like transformers (movies) rejects; Loki seems to have super-strength (which is not a big deal but just saying); I was hoping that we could've seen Antman or Wasp; Shield's Heli-Carrier was easily banged up by Hawkeye and a small group of lackeys. Other than these it was intense!!!! And the best part is, and I sort of suspected it, the cosmic being that ordered Loki to find the cube was none other than the Mad Titan himself: Thanos. My jaw dropped at the sight of his purple face and signature grin. In the back of my head I always thought it should be Thanos. You want a big Marvel event, then Thanos is the man. In my opinion, there is no other big bad baddie in the Marvel Universe that could compare to Thanos. We'll talk about the big guy in future posts so for now revel in the thought of things to come and go out and watch the Avengers. 'Nuff said.
