The Dark Knight Returns

So with the effects from the events of Flashpoint reverberating throughout the DC Universe, almost all DC titles have been revamped. Since September 2011, 52 DC titles have been relaunched and as expected, The Dark Knight has been given uber status among the rest. Having 3 title under his "wing", and numerous others connected to him, DC has relaunched Batman through Batman (New 52), Batman: The Dark Knight (New 52) and Detective Comics (New 52).

I finally caught up with my reading and I must say the Batman series is looking very very good. At the start of the series, we are being re-introduced to the Dark Knight and his realm, Gotham City. And to start off, we are being introduced to a story that goes deeper to the roots of the Batman and Gotham City. Scott Snyder creates a very good flow of events that lead us to the Court of Owls, an organization that has been controlling Gotham City and its denizens for centuries. As Batman investigates deeper, he realizes that he is uncovering truths that have been kept secret right under his nose. The Owls are real, and they are ready to make their move. This will lead into the first cross-over from DC for 2012: "The Night of The Owls", and it looks killer!!!

Batman (New 52) #'s 1 - 7 (including the combo packs)
Scott Snyder (writer) and Greg Capullo (artist) has done an excellent job at relaunching the series and making it as great as it was and should be. The Series comes with with a regular issue, a poly-bagged combo pack which gives you a code to enable you to download the digital copy, a Limited Variant version (so far every issue has one) and a 1:200 Limited Variant cover (most of the time a Sketch Variant) Variant. I have all the combo packs and the Limited Variants, I might have wanted the 1:200 Sketch Variants but they are almost impossible to get and ridiculously expensive.

Limited Variants for Batman #`s 1 - 8
With all the hype of relaunching a title, we almost expect it not to be on par with the original series. That is not the case with the new 52 Batman. It is superb both in storytelling and art and you have got to be crazy if you have not picked up on this series yet.
